Show Notes
Scott likes silence! Just to be clear…
The show begins with a tangent (frankly, the whole show is a tangent, but it is fun talking to you) about Hugh’s love of lightening. And just to prove he knows what he’s talking about – here is a source. (3:05 in the show.)
Hugh and Scott spend time speaking of people we enjoy and folks we would like to have on this show, including Director of the Colorado Oil and Gas Association Dan Haley, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon (13:23), Political rock star Dick Wadhams (14:26) – and plenty of people we disagree with – Speaker of the Colorado House Alec Garnett, Senator Chris Hansen (4:11 in the show), Will Toor (9:36 in the show), Jeni Arndt (13:06 in the show), Governor Jared Polis (17:26)
There are so many fascinating people we’d like to have on this podcast, but they have to understand our rule – there is no pretense – no posturing – we ask people drop their guard and have an honest conversation – which people simply no longer do out of fear of the weaponization of words and “cancellation.” (14:51)
Hugh proffers that ideology has taken over pragmatism and common sense. Scott agrees! (7:52 in the show.)
Hugh references (an out-of-control bureaucracy – Ed. opinion) the Air Quality Control Commission.
Scott and Hugh remain committed to the practical solution that improves peoples’ lives. (9:20 in the show.)
Hugh spoke of attending a bill signing for a bill that will give foster kids in Colorado a completely free higher education opportunity. (Senate Bill 22-008) (15:24)
Hugh speaks of the book about Ralph Carr called The Principled Politician. (18:27)
Hugh poses the hypothetical, “What if we could have anyone – living or dead – on Regular Folks Rising. Hugh bans Reagan, so Scott goes Thomas Jefferson and Hugh goes George Washington – don’t even get Scott going on being “People of merit.”
Hugh speaks of the letter Washington wrote to the Quakers (22:59).
Hugh and Scott agree that the best was for regular folks to rise is to be involved, be engaged, and to be kind. (24:32)
